As our client base continues to climb, our team grows with it to provide exceptional service. We welcome Sarah as our New Content & Community Manager. Look inside Sarah’s career journey and how it led to Grand Scale.

Tell us a little bit about yourself and what you do for Grand Scale.

My path into marketing wasn’t a conventional one, I’m an English graduate and had planned to become a teacher. I started a family a little sooner than expected and put my teaching dreams on hold. I started working as admin support part-time, I tasked myself with trying to help our clients develop their marketing strategy and create an online presence. My manager at the time noticed I had a flair for it and encouraged me to pursue marketing as a career. I decided to join CIM and have never looked back.

I recently joined Grand Scale from an in-house marketing role for a large independent retailer where I managed a team of staff. I was responsible for developing, implementing, and executing strategic marketing plans for the entire organisation, as well as driving sales performance of the company’s e-commerce platform. Whilst I thoroughly enjoyed this role, I wanted a more dynamic career in a fast-paced environment where I could make a difference and continue my professional development.
As the content & community manager, I am responsible for building, growing, and managing the Grand Scale community, curating, and uploading content and helping the company achieve its marketing goals.

How did you hear about Grand Scale?

I initially heard about Grand Scale through a mutual friend in the industry. I was intrigued how they had scaled their business so successfully and quickly - I was curious to learn more, so I did a little digging! I am not going to lie, I was incredibly impressed, albeit a little intimidated. When I learned that there was a job opening in the company, I threw my hat into the ring. Leanne and Ro offered to meet with me, being quite a shy and introverted person can hold me back sometimes, but I couldn’t have been made to feel more at ease. Both Ro and Leanne are industry veterans, yet they exude warmth and have a cracking sense of humour.

What attracted you to Grand Scale?

I have worked with many agencies throughout the years, what stands Grand Scale apart from others is their innovative and fresh approach to marketing and their desire to TEACH. I felt an instant alignment of my own personal goals and the company's purpose and mission.

What are your strengths? What do you love about marketing?

I really do enjoy all aspects of marketing and love that the landscape is ever-changing. Digital marketing is dynamic, and as a marketer, it is important that you to have a willingness to embrace change and stay on top of emerging trends and technology. I have a keen interest in website management and have been fortunate enough to have been up-skilled across several different platforms. Ultimately, I love marketing because it is so diverse. It allows me to be both creative and strategic and there are endless opportunities to learn and grow.

What’s the best marketing advice you’ve been given?

The best piece of advice I have ever been given applies to anyone, in any industry, at any stage of their career. ‘Never stop learning and growing as a person’- I live by this simple philosophy and find its key to professional success and a fulfilling life.

Tell us a fun fact about you

I try to maintain a good work/life balance! So, outside of work I love nothing more than watching my teens play team sports, a pizza with the hubby or an early morning beach walk with my cocker spaniel. I’m a big fitness enthusiast, so if you don’t see me on the side-lines, you will catch me at the gym or sweating it up in the local hot yoga studio.
