Tell us a little bit about yourself and what you do for Grand Scale.
From a young age, I developed a strong interest in the field of marketing. Coming from an entrepreneurial family, I was given the opportunity to be involved in various brainstorming and decision-making processes, where I developed my digital and creative skills to support my mum's business. After my school day finished, I would spend the rest of my day at her beauty salon, where I would sit at reception, take calls, and entertain customers while ideating new promotional concepts or designing social media graphics.
My transition into professional marketing came easily, as I knew I was in my element when given the opportunity to help businesses thrive and grow. Therefore, when the time came, my decision to pursue Digital Marketing at a leading university in England wasn't a surprise to anyone. Things don’t always work out according to plan, in my case, despite being accepted, unexpected financial and family commitments arose which forced me to put my ambitious plans on hold. With no plan B, I began exploring higher-level educational opportunities closer to home. It was during this search that I came across a local college advertising a higher-level apprenticeship programme, which piqued my interest. I applied and got a placement in a fast-paced digital agency in Belfast that kickstarted my career. That was six years ago, and I haven’t looked back since!
How did you hear about Grand Scale?
After endless late nights scrolling through job sites and multiple conversations with recruiters, I was finally introduced to Leanne and Ro. We organised an initial chat and I was hooked - it seemed that the role was everything I was looking for, which is why I was so ecstatic when I was offered the position of Digital Marketing Co-ordinator a few weeks later.
What attracted you to Grand Scale?
I was attracted to Grand Scale as the company's values align with my own. Ro's and Leanne’s ambition and drive is contagious and rubs off on you after every meeting, and as someone who believes that ‘we are products of our environment’ being in the presence of other highly motivated professionals who understand the importance of self-development is extremely important to me.
I also absolutely love the Grand Scale mission, and there's nothing quite like the feeling of knowing we're making a real difference in helping businesses grow and thrive every single day! Companies that participate in our programmes are equipped with the tools and skills necessary to set themselves up for accelerated growth - which is what attracted me to the marketing field in the first place, the desire to help businesses succeed.
What are your strengths? What do you love about marketing?
I have always been creative, and my graphic design and creative-led skills have continuously dominated most of my marketing roles in the past. What appeals to me about marketing is how varied it is, there is always room for growth and learning meaning it never gets stale.
It is probably also one of the most diverse industries out there. There are so many different things you can do under the marketing umbrella, that every job has a level of uniqueness to it.
What’s the best marketing advice you’ve been given?
I’m not sure if I have heard this from someone else or simply adopted this attitude on my own, however, there is one main thing that has been dominating my marketing approach over the years - ‘Always provide value’. In the fast-paced and dynamic marketing landscape, where new tools and apps are being utilised on an annual basis it is a common approach to jump onto every new trend that arises. I am a big advocate of quality over quantity - making sure that everything that goes out is customer-centred and provides value to our target audience.
Tell us a fun fact about you
When not in work, you will most likely find me in the gym, running outdoors or cycling. I normally have copious amounts of energy and love staying active, so I find that movement really dominates how I spend my free time. When not ‘out and about’ you can find me curled up at home exploring some arts and crafts (currently I am in the process of sprucing up some second-hand paintings) drumming or cuddling up with my one and only fur baby - a black and white cat named Tulip.
